Student Tours

Student tours, both in-person and virtual, are offered to education groups throughout the year, subject to availability. They last approximately 45 minutes, and also have an accompanying study guide.

*NOTE: We are unable to schedule tours more than 8 weeks out from the desired date. Please make sure that your request is within the allotted 8 week time frame for the Theatre staff to better accommodate your request. The Theatre reserves the right to exclude certain areas based on scheduled maintenance and activities.*

Please reach out to Alex Drinnen (adrinnen@tennesseetheatre.com) if you have any questions.

Virtual Tours

We have produced a virtual tour series to give students a look into the Official State Theatre of Tennessee. They will learn about its history, renovation, stage, dressing rooms, as well as the importance of its audiences. The series incorporates 3rd and 5th grade standards of learning in areas of world geography, economics, and country music history. The tour is broken into short videos for each area of the Theatre to provide an opportunity to have discussion between segments.

Educators or group leaders can schedule a live tour session with a Theatre representative who will show the videos and conduct a Q&A in between segments with students (duration of 45-60 minutes). If you do not wish to schedule a live tour session, you will be emailed a link and password to access the tour videos to show at your convenience.

Activity and coloring sheets are available for download here. If you wish to use these with your students, we will email you an answer guide.

*NOTE: the Tennessee Theatre turned 93 in October of 2021, so age referenced in videos will change. This tour was designed for students in grades 1-5, so content is geared toward younger students though students of any age will learn all about Knoxville's Grand Entertainment Palace*
