As part of the East Tennessee Historical Society’s annual East Tennessee History Fair, The Knox County Public Library’s Tennessee Archive of Moving image and Sound (TAMIS) will present Buster Keaton’s 1926 silent film masterpiece The General, paired with live accompaniment by Associate House Organist Freddie Brabson on the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ. Ranked as #18 on the American Film Institute’s 100 Greatest American Films list, The General is Keaton’s comic look at events that occurred during Andrews’ Raid, involving a hijacked locomotive outside Chattanooga during the Civil War. Keaton’s brilliance as a director, stuntman and actor have never been more apparent, justly earning the film’s place in the National Film Registry at the Library of Congress.
