Student Tours

Students anywhere can take a look inside the historic Tennessee Theatre

We have produced a virtual tour series to give young students a look into the Official State Theatre of Tennessee. They will learn about its history, renovation, stage, dressing rooms, as well as the importance of its audiences. The series incorporates third and fifth grade standards of learning (2020/2021 school year) in areas of world geography, economics, and country music history. The tour is broken into short videos for each area of the theatre to provide an opportunity to have discussion between segments.

Educators or group leaders can schedule a live tour session with a theatre representative who will show the videos and conduct a Q&A in between segments with students (duration of 45-60 minutes). If you do not wish to schedule a live tour session, you will be emailed a link and password to access the tour videos to show at your convenience.

Activity and coloring sheets are available for download here. If you wish to use these with your students, we will email you an answer guide.

(Note that the Tennessee Theatre turned 93 in October of 2021, so age referenced in videos will change. This tour was designed for students in grades 1-5, so content is geared toward younger students though students of any age will learn all about Knoxville's Grand Entertainment Palace.)
