The Tennessee Theatre highly recommends that customers purchase tickets directly through one of the following sources:

  • Online:  Click Get Tickets above to access online ticketing for all shows that are currently on sale through Ticketmaster. Additionally, each show listing on this website includes direct ticketing links.

  • Tennessee Theatre Box Office: 865-684-1200, option 2. You may also visit us in person Monday through Friday 10am to 5pm or on Saturday from 10am to 2pm. On all performance days, the Gay Street Box Office will open at least one hour prior to the performance’s scheduled start time and will remain open through intermission unless otherwise stated.

  • Ticketmaster: 800.745.3000 available Monday through Saturday 9am to 6pm and Sunday 12pm to 6pm (Ticket Sales available via automation: 24/7), at any Ticketmaster outlet, or online at ticketmaster.com

  • Tickets for the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, Knoxville Opera, or UT Cultural Attractions Committee events held at the Tennessee Theatre can be purchased online at Knoxville Tickets, by phone at 865.656.4444 or 877.995.9961 (available Monday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm) or at one of their walk up outlets

Purchasing tickets anywhere outside of these sources does not guarantee the customer that the tickets they have purchased are legitimate.  

Delivery of Tickets

When purchasing tickets in person at the Box Office or a Ticketmaster outlet, you will be given physical tickets.

If you purchase by phone or online, you will be given several delivery options. When time allows, tickets may be delivered via U.S. Mail. If you prefer, or if the performance date is near, your tickets will be held in Will Call for pickup at the Box Office the day of the show. See below for more information on Will Call ticketing. When purchasing online, you may also choose to print your tickets at home. You will receive your tickets via email as an attached pdf. You MUST print your tickets with the bar code and bring them to the Theatre.

Will Call

The Will Call window is located at the Gay Street Box Office (front entrance of the theatre). Will Call generally opens one hour prior to the performance unless otherwise stated. In order to pick up tickets at Will Call, you will need to present a valid photo ID (driver’s license or passport) along with the credit card used to purchase the tickets. The Box Office staff will not release tickets if the name on the ID or credit card does not match the name given at the time of purchase. Because lines at the Box Office and Will Call window can be long, it is a good idea to arrive at the Box Office at least 45 minutes prior to the performance.  

Gift Cards

Gift cards are valid for one year from the date of purchase. Gift cards can only be redeemed for tickets. No portion of the card is redeemable for cash, and lost or stolen certificates are non-refundable. Refunds, Exchanges, and Cancellations

All sales are final. There are no refunds or exchanges unless otherwise noted. In the event that a performance cancels or postpones, the Tennessee Theatre Box Office staff will notify you as to the options that are available.  

Ticket Fees

Ticket fees are charged in addition to the advertised tickets price and will vary depending on the purchase method. Ticket fees cover the costs of operating a box office, including staffing, software licensing and shipping and handling.  

Seating for Children

Generally, every person over the age of 2 years old must have a ticket. Occasionally, shows may require tickets for everyone regardless of age. For questions, please contact the box office.  

Our policies

  • All ticket sales are final. There are no refunds, exchanges, or retroactive discounts. Third party will call is not permissible. 

  • Lost tickets may be reprinted on the night of show at the box office. Please present a photo ID and the credit card used to purchase the tickets to the box office. Lost tickets purchased through a ticket broker or unauthorized third party cannot be reprinted. 

  • The Tennessee Theatre reserves the right to revoke tickets sold to a ticket broker or unauthorized third party.  

  • Performance times and Broadway cast members are beyond our control and are subject to change without advance notification.

  • Performances are not canceled and refunds are not provided due to weather conditions.

  • Cameras, camera phones, audio, video and digital recorders, paging devices, and cell phones may not be permitted in the theatres based on the artists' policies. Guests using prohibited items may be ejected without refund.

  • Each individual show’s producer or artist determines the seating policy for late arriving guests. In some instances, if you arrive after the show begins, you may be asked to wait until there is a natural break in the act before going to your seat.

  • Outside food and beverage are not permitted in the theater. 

  • For the protection of our patrons, theatre managers and security personnel are on duty during all performances. Purses, briefcases, and bags may be inspected upon arrival. Larger items that have the potential to block walkways or disturb other patrons will need to be stored at the Box Office. For your convenience, we recommend refraining from bringing large bags to the theatre.

  • For guest with disabilities, please call the Tennessee Theatre Box Office (865) 684-1200 option 2 during regular business hours for accessible or special needs seating. For more information about special needs seating, please visit Special Needs and Accessibility.

Important information regarding ticket brokers and unauthorized third parties

Buy your tickets only from Ticketmaster or the Tennessee Theatre Ticket Office on Clinch Ave, or Knoxville Tickets for some shows such as Knoxville Opera or Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. When you buy from a broker:

  • We cannot be responsible for tickets purchased through unauthorized third parties.

  • Your tickets cannot be replaced if lost or stolen.

  • We cannot guarantee that your tickets are valid and cannot guarantee admittance.

  • You will always pay more than face value.

  • We cannot contact you with information regarding time changes, show cancellations, road closures or other information.

  • We reserve the right to revoke tickets sold to a broker or unauthorized third party. If you are holding a revoked ticket, you will not be admitted and will not receive a refund. 

FAQs

The Tennessee Theatre has two ticket office locations – on Clinch Avenue along the side of the Theatre and on Gay Street in the front of the Theatre.

The Clinch Avenue box office is marked with a “Tennessee Theatre Box Office” sign directly above the entrance. The Clinch Avenue box office is open weekdays from 10am to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 2pm.

The Gay Street box office is located to the right of the front entrance of the theatre. The standalone ticket booth in front of the theatre is only used for display purposes only.  The Gay Street box office is open on performance days only beginning at least one hour prior to the start of the performance.

The box office can be reached by phone during business hours at 865.684.1200 (menu option 2).

On this site, you can purchase tickets by choosing the event you wish to attend under “Event Calendar” and clicking on the gold “Get Tickets” button. Tickets may also be purchased online at ticketmaster.com or knoxvilletickets.com (for certain shows only). You may also purchase tickets by calling the Tennessee Theatre ticket office at 865.684.1200, option 2, during normal business hours (Monday-Friday 10am to 5pm, Saturday 10am to 2pm). During events, the Gay Street box office opens one hour prior to show time. To ensure that your tickets are valid and that you are only paying face value, please purchase directly from Ticketmaster, Knoxville Tickets, or the Tennessee Theatre ticket office. We highly advise against purchasing from a ticket broker or unauthorized third party.

GET TICKETS

Yes. Seats in the Right sections of the Orchestra and Balcony Levels are even-numbered seats. Seats on the Left sections of the Orchestra and Balcony Levels are odd-numbered seats. Seats in the Center section of the Orchestra Level are consecutively numbered starting with 101.

Yes, you should receive a confirmation via e-mail almost immediately after your purchase is made. It is also a good idea to print the confirmation page displayed once your order is complete. This confirmation page will have all of your information if for some reason you do not receive an e-mail or if there is an issue with your order.

While most of our shows are appropriate for all ages, we do have some concerts that have strict age requirements (18 and older). Please contact the Tennessee Theatre ticket office to ask if there are any age restrictions or adult nature to the performance that you want to attend. Most children over the age of four can enjoy a two hour performance while remaining happy and quietly seated. However, you know your child’s nature the best. Please note: for most shows, children under the age of two do not require a ticket if they sit on the parent’s lap.

All seats are available via the Internet. Our ticketing provider is designed to sell tickets beginning with the most desirable location within the seating section that you select. You may also select specific seats for all reserved seating events via the interactive seat map. All seating is subject to availability.

The Will Call window is located at the Gay Street Box Office (front entrance of the theatre). Will Call generally opens one hour prior to the performance unless otherwise noted. In order to pick up tickets at Will Call, you will need to present a valid photo ID (driver’s license or passport) along with the credit card used to purchase the tickets. The Box Office staff will not release tickets if the name on the ID or credit card does not match the name given at the time of purchase. If you are purchasing tickets for someone else to pick up, please make sure to add their name to the order at the time of the purchase to ensure that there is no confusion when they arrive to pick up the tickets.

We suggest that you try to get there at least one half-hour before the performance. Arriving early will give you time to get to your seat, get a beverage or snack and enjoy the overall ambiance of the beautifully renovated Theatre. Traffic and parking can be unpredictable, so plan to arrive early.

Our box office is generally open through intermission. If the box office has already closed for the evening, Will Call tickets will be left with the ushers at the main door.
